Supported Learning

If you have a learning difficulty and/or disability, Brooklands College has a range of challenging educational programmes and opportunities available through the supported learning team at the college.  The courses are flexible, and can be attended on both a full-time and part-time basis.  They have all been designed to meet the needs and abilities of the learner and include a range of external accreditation and offer the possibility of pathways to other courses, employment or sheltered independent schemes.

Supported Learning Programmes (SLP) are taught over our two campuses at Weybridge and Ashford, allowing learners to access modern, safe, friendly and secure learning environments specially adapted for the needs of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.  The Supported Learning 14-19 programmes are managed from the Berkeley Building which can be found on the Weybridge Campus.

Autism Centre, Weybridge Campus

In September 2015 we opened an Autism Centre at our Weybridge campus.  This centre provides a unique college based setting for students in Surrey.  Students will enjoy the security of a secure building in a quiet area of the college whilst having the opportunity to integrate into the wider college environment.
It includes:

• Four standard classrooms
• Domestic/catering kitchen
• Craft/art room
• Library area
• Socialising/eating area
• Horticulture facilities
• Outdoor ‘trim trail’
• Sensory room
• Quiet room & break out areas

For more information on the Autism Centre please visit our facilities page or click here http://www.brooklands.ac.uk/facilities/autism-centre

We also have a number of off site partnership facilities used by students including Spelthorne Farm (Heathrow), Hillside Catering Project (Camberley) and the Xcel Sport and Leisure Centre (Walton).

The Supported Learning Department has its own minibus allowing wheelchair access, so that students can go off-site for educational visits or activities.

For further information on any of the 10 week course or to book an Advice, Guidance and Enrolment session please ring 01932 797 746 or our Admissions Team on 01932 797 797.
