What is the course about?

The aim of this programme is to offer students a route into further independence and employment.  In addition to this students are encouraged to develop confidence in personal and social skills, communication and teamwork.

Students may wish to progress on to the Progression Pathway 3, the LEAP pathway, or into employment. Students will have the opportunity to plan progression with their personal tutor.

Vocational areas may include Catering, Childcare, Horticulture, Hairdressing, Media, Retail, Sport or Motor Vehicle Studies.


Qualification Aims
•  OCR Entry Level 2 Certificate in Life and Living Skills
•  Functional English, Maths and ICT at the appropriate level

What modules are covered?

Other skills development includes:
•  Knowing your local area
•  Living in a diverse community
•  Personal awareness
•  Rights and responsibilities

Who is the course suitable for?

Suitability for the course is to be determined at interview. Students who have not attended the college before should consider transition planning with the college, to include taster sessions and attendance at Summer School.

What grades do I need?

Entry Level Requirements
No formal qualifications are needed but enthusiam and an interest in your chosen subject area(s) is essential.

Are there any extra costs?

Students are expected to bring folders, pens and writing paper to all lessons. Uniform/equipment and a contribution towards the expense of travelling within the community is necessary for some lessons

Advice Track

Those courses indicated as Advice Track may require previous qualifications or experience and we may need to ensure that this is the right course for you. On receipt of your enrolment form, we will contact you to discuss your needs. This may be by telephone or in person with the course tutor. Once you are happy that this is the right course for you, we will process your payment and the enrolment will be completed.

If the course that you are interested in does not require any previous qualifications or experience and you need no further advice, you can enrol in the following ways:

Please make sure that you state the name and code of the course when returning your application form. You will be required to come along to the relevant campus to pay for your course or provide evidence for fee remissions (where applicable, this does not apply to all courses). You will also be required to bring along evidence to prove your identity (driving licence, birth certificate or passport).
