Are you interested in science? Do you want to help your children with their studies? Are you planning a career change and want to teach in primary school? This is the course for you!
You do not need any prior qualifications, just a willingness to study aspects of biology, chemistry and physics which relate to the science you might read about in the press and also your own health and genetics. You will need to spend some time studying independently outside of class time as directed by your tutor.
There are no formal entry qualifications but a basic knowledge of English and Mathematics would be useful.
The five units studied for this course are assessed by either coursework or external examination. In total there are:
• Four 40 minute examinations
• A case study
• One piece of practical analysis
Your course tutor will explain more about this when you first meet and information will be found in the handbook given out at the beginning of the course.
You will need a textbook; details will be given about this at your first class.
You will need to purchase a lab coat; details will be given about this at your first class.
All students are subject to a £20 registration fee per academic year.
Each student will receive a print allowance at the start of their course, should they require additional printing beyond this limit, they will be charged.
