Apprenticeship Week - Get informed and get the benefits 02/02/2010
Apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to harness fresh new talent. National Apprentice Week in February will highlight the benefits of an apprentice in your work place.

During National Apprenticeship Week, experts at Brooklands College are inviting you to drop in to a free, informal event on Thursday February 4 2010, anytime between 2 and 7pm to find out how apprenticeships can benefit you.

With businesses searching for ways to become more effective during these uncertain times, employers are demanding that staff have the most up to date skills possible. Recruiting companies know that there is huge competition for every job vacancy and are selecting staff that will help make their business productive and competitive.

Increasingly, businesses are employing apprentices to fill skills gaps, with the added benefit of being able to give them specialist skills that work best in their organisation.

Apprentices gain practical skills from the work place and can earn while learning and gaining recognised qualifications.

Key benefits of apprenticeships for employees:
  • earn a salary
  • get paid holidays
  • receive training
  • gain qualifications
  • learn job-specific skills.

Each apprenticeship involves structured training, leading to a recognised qualification and work placed experience. An Apprenticeship takes up to five years, depending when all elements have been completed.

Brooklands College offers apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds in:

    • Hair
    • Business Administration
    • Motor Vehicle Services
    • Engineering
    • Aerospace
    • Construction (from September 2010

Anita Winter, Brooklands College Apprentice Coordinator said ‘I usually find that apprentices are keen, flexible and loyal to the company that invested in them’, so whether you are an employer looking to recruit motivated staff, or you are aged between 16-25 and want to earn while you learn, our specialist staff can tell you more about the apprenticeship opportunities that Brooklands can offer you.
