What does the Careers Service offer?

We are provide confidential one to one and group advice sessions for any query related to jobs, careers, and applications to university or other colleges.

The service is available across both Weybridge and Ashford campuses during the opening times above. The service is also available during all of the college breaks but with reduced opening hours. Brooklands’ Main Reception and these web pages will carry a list of our holiday opening times.

Resources: We have a full and up to date range of literature, prospectuses and software relating to all aspects of careers and higher education. Additionally you can access online careers information resources from this page by clicking on the following link: Careers Etc

Staff: The Careers Service is staffed by 4 fully qualified, experienced careers advisers plus visiting advisers from local Connexions Centres. An Aimhigher Coordinator who specialises in assisting students from non-traditional backgrounds find out more about university is also part of the Careers Team and our UCAS Coordinator provides specialist assistance with how to access and use UCAS.com; the university applications website.

Location of Careers Service at Weybridge

The Careers Centre is situated in room L020 on the ground floor of the Locke King Building close to Main Reception. There are three interview rooms, an open seating area, resources shelves, information boards, four networked computers, printer and photocopier available for visitors.

Location of Careers Service at Ashford

The Careers Consultation Room is situated in the Library on the second floor of The Old Grammar School Building. Resources shelves, information boards, networked computers, printer and photocopier are available just outside the Consultation Room in the Library.

Brooklands Students

If you are a Brooklands student you are welcome to visit the Careers Centre at Weybridge or the Library at Ashford to use our resources at any time.

At Weybridge we offer a drop in advice service during our opening times. You may have to book an appointment for longer guidance sessions if all staff are busy when you drop in.

At Ashford we offer a limited drop in service with a Connexions Adviser – these drop in times are posted in the Library and at Reception on a termly basis. The Librarian is happy to help you with the resources and you can make an appointment at Reception to see a Careers adviser who will come to the Ashford Careers Consultation room at a time to suit you within three days of your requesting an appointment.

Students’ parents and carers are also welcome to contact the Careers Service directly or with their children. We are pleased to meet parents and carers in person or offer email / phone advice.

Adults

Brooklands’ Careers Service is also able to offer adult clients free, confidential, and impartial advice and information about careers and study opportunities. This service is open to adults from the local community who are aged 20 or over and is available in conjunction with the 'Next Step' Surrey partnership. Adult ‘Next Step’ guidance is delivered at both campuses and clients should specify which location they prefer when booking their appointment.
