While studying at Brooklands College there may be times when you need some extra support to ensure you stay on track with work and assignments. Our student support team will be with you every step of the way.
The Student Counsellor is in College every day and offers confidential support to students for a range of difficulties and concerns. There is a Student Counseling Leaflet with more information here.
Counselling support is given through 1:1 booked sessions for those students who need ongoing help or students can also ‘drop in’ if they have an urgent concern.
The sessions are confidential therefore anything a Student discloses to the Counsellor, will remain confidential unless the Counsellor believes them, or others may be at risk.
The Counsellor works closely with the Safeguarding Team and Progression Mentors in order to provide the students with a holistic pastoral approach to supporting them with any issues.
One Progression Mentor is allocated to each curriculum area. Progression Mentors are here to help students to reach their full potential by offering support and guidance throughout their time at college.
Through weekly tutorials, Progression Mentors create content and enriching activities outside of the student’s curriculum to enable them to develop the resilience and skills needed to succeed.
They also offer pastoral support, helping students to remove barriers to learning and move forward in their studies. This could be anything from safeguarding and mental health support, to housing issues, support with funding, work experience, and liaising with social workers and family workers and much more.
