This dynamic course addresses the need for students aged 14 – 18 who need to learn English as a second language in preparation for further study in mainstream educational or to a variety of exciting academic or vocational options.
The course provides a springboard for learners to successfully progress and each year an increasing number of learners participate in this pioneering approach to learning.ESOL is taught using a variety of stimulating materials and experiences to promote language development. The course includes ESOL, Maths and IT. It recognises and embraces the richness and cultural diversity of the range of students. Each learner is supported on their journey of development with a strong pastoral focus.
Based at the Weybridge Campus, you will be encourages to integrate with other areas in the College for example sport, survival skills, bushcraft, first aid. You will also be offered the chance of taster sessions in a range of areas including Catering, Media, Health & Social Care, Construction and Engineering. As a result many of the students have gone on to study in these areas as full time vocational students having completed Headstart.
Qualifications studied (as appropriate):
The course is for any student between 14 – 18 years whose first language is not English and is unable to access mainstream education.
