Engineering has a lot of different subject areas, and if you’re undecided which area you want to study, then this course is right for you. This course is a combination of a BTEC Award and a Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) qualification.
The course will build your practical skills through the PEO doing a range of skills assessments and develop your engineering knowledge through the BTEC Award exams and assessments.

At the end of this course you will have an understanding in each area, so when you progress onto a level 3 course that will become your specialist subject.
As part of your programme of study you will also attend tutorial and take part in work experience. All learners who do not have a GCSE Grade 4 or above in English will continue to study these subjects.
The Brooklands name has a long association with the engineering industry and we’re very proud to continue the tradition through our wide range of engineering courses in well-equipped workshops.
Our excellent engineering facilities comprise several workshops including Aeroplane hanger (including a helicopter rig!) computer facilities and study areas.
People who are undecided about which section of Engineering they would like to work in, this course will give you a good understanding of the different sections and the different jobs that are within the Engineering sectors.
There are six units in the PEO and 4 units in the BTEC Award to complete to this course, and they are assessed through written assignments, phase tests and practical tasks for which you will be able to achieve pass, merit and distinction grades for the BTEC and a pass for the PEO.
In advance of the course starting students will need to purchase their own Health and Safety equipment (Personal, Protective, Equipment). This will consist of Steel or composite toe safety shoes and overalls. Guidance on this will be provided during the application stage.
You will also need pens, pencils, ruler, protractor, compass, eraser, line paper and a ring binder.
5 GCSE passes (including Maths) and including 1 GCSE at grade 4 and above or for progressing student’s successful achievement of a level 1 vocational qualification.
