    An Installation Electrician apprenticeship can cover a wide range of jobs. Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. This requires competance in determining and resolving any faults which they may encouter in various electrical systems.

     

    Course Details

    What will the course involve?

    To gain the full apprenticeship standard you will need to complete the following qulaifications/End Point Assessment:

    • City & Guilds 5357-03
    • If required, apprentices will need to complete Functional Skills in English and maths
    • Complete and pass the End Point Assessment (AM25) which leads to the Gold Card accreditation

    Apprentices will be coached/mentored on their skills, knowledge and behaviours which include:

    • To work reliably and effectively without close supervision
    • To accept responsibility for the work of themselves and others
    • To work effectively with colleagues, other trades, clients, suppliers and the public
    • To undertake work in a way that contributes to sustainable development

     

    Entry Requirements

    What qualifications will I need?

    Individual employers will identify any relevant entry requirements in terms of previous qualifications, trainability tests, or other criteria. Most candidates will have English and maths at Level 2 (minimum) at GCSE grade 4 or above.

    All applicants applying for an apprenticeship will be required to complete a skill scan and undertake initial assessment before the start date.

    Assessment

    How will I be assessed?

    The apprentice will attend day release at college one day a week over the duration of the course.

    Apprentices will need to complete 'workplace log books' with the support of a coach/mentor in the workplace. assessment targets will be set to ensure timely completion of the apprenticeship. In addition to the assessment 20% 'off-the-job' training is incorporated throughout the apprenticeship and is planned and agreed with the employer, provider and apprentice.

    In agreement with the employer, provider and apprentice and providing that all qualifications and assessments are completed, the apprentice will undergo an End Point Assessment. This is a synoptic assessment of the skills, knowledge and behaviours that have developed and supported throughout the apprenticeship.

    Next Steps

    By the end of the apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as Eng Tech by the Engineering Council and will be able to work unsupervised as an electrician

    Salary once qualified and with some experience circa: £25,000.
