Education and Childcare

T Level in education and childcare will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding in a broad range of topics such as child development, safeguarding and special educational needs, as well as learning about the role of families and support agencies.  It is a diverse and fascinating subject, and you will be able to delve into the specifics of social interaction, how language is acquired and understanding behaviour.  Also, you will build your skills in becoming a reflective practitioner with an understanding of the broader context of education.

Furthermore, you will then be able to choose a specialism, which is designed to support your interests and ambitions to progress in a specific area. This is where you can get deeper into your chosen subject, developing and practising the skills needed for an occupation.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths

Based at our Weybridge Campus, you will have access to industry standard, equipment and classrooms and will be taught by our industry qualified and experienced teaching team

Course Details

Year 1 Core component: the knowledge and underpinning concepts, theories and principles as well as core skills for the education and childcare sector.

Year 2- Occupational specialisms:

• Early Years Educator

• Assisting Teaching

Students will only complete one occupational specialism.

The occupational specialisms provide students with knowledge and skills required to enter employment or further study in the specific occupational area.

Students are required to take part in a substantial industry placement that  runs for a minimum of 315 hours (45 days) overall and will give students practical insights into their sector and an opportunity to embed the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.

You can gain employment in a number of specific careers within the Education and Early Years Sector as a qualified practitioner, you could apply for a Higher Apprenticeship, or you could progress to university to study an education or early years-related degree
