By speaking up, you can make real changes, contribute to the college community and build skills like leadership and communication that look great on your CV.

3 quick ways to share your views

Become a student governor

You could sit on the college’s main Board of Governors. This role lets you vote on major college decisions alongside senior leaders.

Contribute to student surveys

We send out quick, anonymous digital surveys throughout the year to regularly receive feedback from the student body. This makes sure we’re informed about what you need throughout the academic year.

Attend the Annual Student Voice Conference

Take part in our annual college-wide, student-led conference where you get to have your say on important campus topics and speak directly with senior leadership about what matters most to you.

You said:

We need quieter, less intimidating spaces for socialising.

We did:

Opened a dedicated study hub in the Edge building, a brand-new canteen in Barnes Wallis with further plans to reconfigure the Learning Hub to provide more quiet zones for study.

You said:

We’d like more enrichment activities during our unstructured time to help manage wellbeing/mental health.

We did:

A new ‘Zen Den’ was created as part of the enrichment programme, offering regular mindfulness drop-in sessions in partnership with our Inclusion Zone. Boxing coaching, yoga sessions and new clubs and sporting activities have also been introduced.

You said:

There should be improved communication for students and staff using Google Chat/Microsoft Teams.

We did:

WhatsApp is now being used for enrolment communications and student reminders about important information such as upcoming GCSEs and student feedback surveys. Some curriculum teams are now trialling Google Chat.
