Level 1 Award in Introductory Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding
Designed for individuals aged 19 and over, this qualification is for beginners or individuals working in the trade without formal welding qualifications. The course covers different welding methods and helps learners demonstrate welding skills typically found in industry.
Course overview
This introductory welding course is designed to equip individuals with essential welding skills. The course focuses on practical application, covering diverse welding methods and industry-standard techniques.
MIG (metal inert gas) welding is a good choice for beginners because the machine is easy to handle and can create professional-looking joints on both thick and thin metals. You’ll learn how to produce welded joints using MIG equipment and processes while understanding the underpinning theory and health and safety requirements.
This lesson is run once a week, every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm – 5pm, for 10 weeks, at our Weybridge Campus.
There are no formal academic entry requirements for this course. Students must be age 19 and over.
Fees for this course only apply to adults who do not qualify for government funding. Every applicant will be assessed before enrolment on their funding availability.
