Course overview

This qualification will broaden your knowledge of the cultural and social contexts in which creative media is made. You’ll gain a greater insight into the TV, film, print and news industry, as well as a greater understanding of how they are produced and tailored to a wide range of audiences.

To qualify for this course, you will need a minimum of: 4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (one of which should be Maths/English).
Upon enrolment, you will be expected to provide a portfolio of your previous artwork.

As a media student you will gain practical experience in our impressive modern facilities including: professionally equipped TV studios, video/editing and Apple Mac suites. Our highly experienced staff will support, guide and prepare you for a wide range of opportunities, including further education and employment.


What you'll need

Students can buy their own materials such as USB memory sticks and blank DVDs. There are also a range of educational visits to London, where students will be required to pay for their tickets and travel. Students are also allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.


Career Pathways

The Extended Diploma is equal to 3 A Levels in size and awards UCAS points upon successful completion. Students will be able to apply for a degree at a university or other courses in a related area. Alternatively, some students can go on to work independently in the industry.

Entry job roles in this area include: Video Editor, Sound Technician and Media Researcher.
