Meet the Governors

We are recruiting new Governors

It is an exciting time in Brooklands’ history and we are looking for new Governors to join our Corporation Board. 

Chair of Governor Craig MahoneyProfessor Craig Mahoney
Chair of the Corporation

Craig is CEO of Ed Tech startup company Parlo but was previously Vice-Chancellor at the University of the West of Scotland and then Vice-Chancellor at the University of Law. A dynamic public advocate of higher and further education, Craig is a research active academic with a strong interest in differentiated student-centred pedagogy, research informed teaching, e-learning, technology to support teaching, open educational resources, teaching excellence and global engagement.

He is a passionate supporter of equality, diversity and inclusion and has developed or supported many programmes and change plans to eliminate discrimination and enable fairness for all. A chartered psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Craig has been an internationally recognised performance psychologist for more than 30 years.

Ian Carey
Staff Governor

Throughout the years within the education section Ian has developed strong cross college relationships with internal and external stakeholders. He is passionate about apprenticeships and the work we do with employers.

Ian has a strong work ethic and expectations for a high quality delivery within curriculum and support areas.

Jesse Adekoya

Jesse is a senior level executive in the Healthcare industry. With a background in finance.

Also a Consultant, Advisor, and town councillor, Jesse is a dedicated campaigner for better healthcare and youth work development. He is currently studying a part-time doctorate (DBA) on how to improve the healthcare system. He drives and develops services and advice, working with local authorities, charities and trusts. He enjoys building and supporting high performing teams; working with others on boards and forging partnerships and has a solid track record across large complex social care and health services.
Fred Gray

Fred retired from ICI as Corporate Restructuring Manager having held various senior finance and business roles. Fred is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Fred has wide experience both as an Executive and Non-Executive Director mainly in the UK, Canada and Australia. He has served on Audit Committees in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Fred joined the Governing Body as a Governor in 2018 and initially joined the Audit Committee of which he became Chair. Fred then moved to Chair the Resources Committee.

Dr. Andrew Gilchrist

Andrew joined the Governing Body in 2020 and is Chair of the Audit Committee, having previously undertaken the same role at another FE college for a number of years. He works in the life assurance industry and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Adam HerriotAdam Herriott

Adam is a Chartered Resource and Waste Manager, and has worked in the Resource and Waste Management Sector for over a decade. Having previously worked in local government and the private sector he now works at Climate Change NGO WRAP advising businesses and government, both in the UK and abroad, more towards a circular economy and Net Zero ambitions.
Mary Hughes

Mary is Vice- Chair of the Curriculum and Performance Committee, a member of the Audit Committee and the Safeguarding Governor.Her professional life has been exclusively in education as a lecturer and senior manager in Further Education.

James MeasuresJames Measures

James works in asset management as a financial analyst and has multiple years of experience as a business development professional working in a variety of roles and sectors from corporate companies to start-ups, charity and consulting work. James has been a youth leader and mentor for over ten years and joined the college as a Governor following two years of engagement with Brooklands through the Elmbridge Youth Hub, offering media production work experience to members of the college and wider community at Cornerstone the Church in Walton-on-Thames where he is also a Trustee

Hilary Omissi OBE

Hilary has spent most of her career in National, Regional and Local Government and various Non-Departmental Public Bodies, working on policy and operational work relating to children’s services, education and training. She also spent a period with Prince’s Trust, undertaking a special project for HRH the Prince of Wales, subsequently joining the South East Regional Council and becoming an Ambassador for the Trust. More recently she has undertaken a number of interim and consultancy roles in the Charity and Public Sectors. Hilary has significant experience as a Non-Executive and is currently Deputy Chair of a Careers Guidance Charity as well as being a Governor of Brooklands College. Hilary was awarded an OBE in 2006.

Jackie Pearson

Jackie is Chair of the Curriculum & Performance Review Committee. Jackie joined the College in 2013 and brings a wealth of experience in education. A former Head Teacher, Jackie gained acclaim from the DfE as Head Teacher of the “Most Improved School 2004-2007 for 5+A*-C and the Children’s Champion Award in 2008.

Academic Staff Governor

Judy joined Brooklands College after have spent some years practising as an Early Years Practitioner. Having joined the Childcare Department at the college in August 2013, Judy is now Head of Learning (Health & Social Care, Education & Early Years, Science, Sport and Uniformed Protective Services). Judy teaches on the Level 5 Foundation Degree in Early Years and within the Governing Body, sits on the Curriculum & Performance Review Committee.

Paul Stedman

Paul is an experienced executive in the Construction Industry. He has a broad range of experience in the Construction Management and strategic planning of major projects. He has also worked overseas and in the UK in all types of development from industrial to luxury residential apartments. He is motivated in assisting undergraduates and apprentices enter and progress through the business.
Louise SalmonLouise Salmon

Louise is an experienced professional in the Further Education sector, a previous Director of Teaching, Learning, Digital and Quality at a Large GFE College and is currently the CEO of an Independent Training Provider delivering Digital Apprenticeships, leading the way in Digital Training for the Education sector.
She is experienced as Lead Nominee in Ofsted inspections and comprehensive ESFA Audits. Louise holds the unique accolade as the only ITP CEO in the 2022-2023 academic year to achieve a remarkable 0% funding error.
A turnaround specialist leading growth, quality improvement and governance, Louise navigates the complexities of business and educational oversight seamlessly. She enjoys studying, currently undertaking a Masters in Leadership and Management and an EMBA
Louise is passionate about the FE sector, apprenticeships and the impact they can have on the skills of the workforce of tomorrow.
Student GovernorDaniela Clarkson
Student Governor

Daniela is currently in her third and final year of study at Brooklands College, where she is working towards the completion of her honours degree in motorsport engineering. She has the hope of pursuing a master’s degree in a related field, as she aspires to establish herself in motorsport. Daniela’s ultimate dream is to secure a role within the F1 industry.
