This qualification will allow you to quickly build recognised skills within the finance sector. You will develop your confidence in bookkeeping transactions and get to grips with the use of automated accounting software and tools. This course is exclusively taught at our Ashford Campus where you can find support from our specialist teachers and lecturers.
There are no entry requirements for this course as it is suitable for complete beginners, however students will benefit from having a good standard of maths and English before starting this course.
What you'll learn
Processing bookkeeping transactions
- Understand double-entry bookkeeping, integrating books of prime entry and describing coding system functions
- Understand discounts and settlement, trade and bulk discount differences
- Prepare and process customer and supplier invoices and credit notes
- Learn how to total and balance a 3-column analysed cash book
- Total, balance and reconcile petty cash records within an analysed petty cash book
- Process ledger transactions and extract a trial balance
Control accounts, journals and the banking system
- Understand the purpose and use of control accounts and journals
- Maintain and use control accounts and the journal
- Reconcil a bank statement with the cash book
- Understand the banking process and main services of banks and building societies
- Understand requirements of retention and storage relating to banking document.
This course is assessed through two written exams at the end of your course. All end-of-unit assessments are held at our Ashford Campus.
