Course overview
This one-year foundation pathway provides a solid grounding for those aspiring to a Science T Level, or indeed, other technical qualifications. We’ll equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to progress, with the opportunity to achieve a GCSE in Biology. Alongside these core academic qualifications, you’ll develop crucial employability skills, ensuring you’re well-prepared for your next steps in further education.
The minimum entry requirements for this course includes GCSE English and maths (grade 3-4) or Level 2 Functional Skills. Those who do not achieve a grade 4 in English or maths will be required to study this alongside their course.
What you'll learn
Investigate, observe and experiment with scientific theories and learn how to work scientifically within our T Level Foundation Science course.
- Develop your scientific thinking, experimental strategies and sampling techniques.
- Learn how to analyze real scientific data
- Interpret observation, patterns and trends
- Learn and complete practical assessments within our new labs, kitted out with all new apparatus.
All of this will take place in our fully refurbished science laboratories using the latest technology and industry-level facilities, brand-new for 2025!
During this course, you will complete a 45 day work placement in a laboratory or health care environment, gaining real-world experience and gaining the opportunity to practise your technical skills.
You will be assessed through practical assessments and written exams. You will also be asked to complete an employer set project during your placement.
Career Pathways
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, learners will internally progress onto the Level 3 T Level in Science, completing their second year of education at the college.
