Level 2 Diploma in Engineering

This introductory diploma aims to provide learners with a greater insight into the engineering and manufacturing industry, with hands-on practicals and comprehensive learning.You’ll learn about the manufacturing process and plan productions, using milling and bench techniques to create your own projects.

Your study programme will consist of: 

• Your chosen technical qualification
• GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
• Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth. 
• Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

The minimum entry requirements for this course is 5 GCSE passes including 1 GCSE at grade 4 or above ideally including maths and English.

• Understand the health and safety requirements when working in engineering
• Develop your effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Learn a range of formulae used in building services engineering
• Explore key principles of engineering, including efficiency, density, force, power, material properties and much more
• Understand how to plan productions to manufacture routine components
• Understand the manufacturing industry as a whole, including forms of supply, procurement of projects and career opportunities
• Practise accurate measurements and master relevant formula
• Learn and use a variety of milling techniques during the manufacturing process
• Program and set up a variety of digital systems to manufacture projects
• Use a range of tools and equipment to carry out bench fitting techniques 

The Brooklands name has a long association with the engineering industry and we’re very proud to continue the tradition through our wide range of engineering courses in well-equipped workshops.

Our excellent engineering facilities comprises of several mechanical workshops with computer facilities and study areas.

In advance of the course starting students will need to purchase their personal protective equipment (PPE). This will consist of Steel or composite toe safety shoes and overalls. Guidance on this will be provided during enrolment.

You will also be expected to have your own pencil case, with the relevant equipment for this course, this includes: pens, pencils, ruler, protractor, compass, eraser, lined paper and a ring binder.

You will be allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners may wish to progress onto the Level 3 T Level Technical Qualification in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing.
