Course overview
Building on the underpinning knowledge of the Level 2 diploma, this qualification aims to deepen your knowledge of advanced treatments used in the beauty industry. You will: gain hands-on experience with real clients, practise new treatments including stone therapy, Indian head massage and electrotherapy, whilst understanding the effects of each treatment on the body. You will consult, treat and advise clients on their treatments to a professional standard.
Your study programme will consist of:
- Your chosen technical qualification
- GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
- Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth.
- Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

To qualify for this course, you will need a minimum of: 2 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (including English and maths) and a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, with a minimum achievement of Merit standard.

- Be able to provide aftercare advice and evaluate your own techniques
- Deepen your knowledge of the five classical massage movements
- Learn the main functions of different body systems in relation to massage Understand the effects and benefits of electrotherapy equipment on the skin
- Gain new skills in body massage and electrotherapy on the face and body
- Practice stone therapy massage and understand the effects on the body
You will be continuously assessed throughout this course via online exams and practical assignments.
What you'll need
Students are required to purchase and wear the salon’s uniform. Upon enrolment, you will be advised on how and where to purchase any uniform you may need. Students are also allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.
Career Pathways
This qualification can be used as a stepping stone to post graduate courses for those who would like to continue their education at university or in an apprenticeship. Students can also find full-time work as a beautician in salons, hotels, spas, health centres and cruise ships.
