Course overview
If you are practical, motivated, and ready to start your career, this apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience on commercial and industrial projects. Earn a recognised qualification while learning from experienced professionals in the construction industry.
- Ages 16–18: Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 in both English and Maths.
- Ages 19+: Adults are exempt from the English and Maths requirement, subject to employer approval.
All applicants will be required to attend an interview and undertake initial assessments, you will need to demonstrate an interest in the construction sector.
What you'll learn
- Install electrical systems, wiring, conduit, and containment
- Assist with testing, inspecting, and maintaining electrical installations
- Learn to read and interpret technical blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Ensure all work complies with current regulations
- Learn how to work effectively with colleagues, other trades, clients, suppliers and the general public
- Understand the principles of sustainable development
You will be required to complete a workplace logbook that provides evidence of your assessment targets and on-the-job training. Once this has been completed, you will undertake an End Point Assessment, where you will be assessed on the skills, knowledge and behaviours developed throughout your apprenticeship.
What you'll need
In advance of starting this apprenticeship, students will need to purchase their own personal protective equipment (PPE). This will consist of Steel or composite toe safety shoes and overalls. Guidance on this will be provided by your employer.
At the college, you will be allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.
Career Pathways
Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you may be interested in continuing your education at university or you may wish to progress onto a level 4 qualification. Many apprentices will also continue their education and employment through their apprenticeship employer.
