Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English

This course develops your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, building your confidence and ability to communicate in daily life and your workplace. You will learn key English Language skills, improving your employability and helping you to integrate smoothly into your local community.

Students must have been a UK resident for the last 3 years and they must be aged 19 and over.

There are no formal academic requirements for this qualification.

This course is available free of charge to you if:

• You are a UK Resident 
• You have not achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE English
• You meet the suitability requirements set out by the Course Lecturer at assessment

Every applicant will be assessed before enrolment on their funding availability.

To enrol onto this course, you will need proof of your UK passport or your government share code.

Students who complete this course can progress onto other adult courses at the college, subject to their entry requirements.
