This comprehensive course is designed to provide learners with the fundamental knowledge and understanding required for careers in electrical installation and building services engineering. It covers essential principles in mathematics, science, health and safety, electrical regulations and workplace communication. This course serves as a stepping stone towards becoming a qualified electrician, allowing you to progress onto Level 3 qualifications in electrotechnology or electrical installation.
Your study programme will consist of:
- Your chosen technical qualification
- GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
- Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth.
- Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

The minimum entry requirements for this course includes GCSE English and maths (grade 3-4) or Level 2 Functional Skills. Those who do not achieve a grade 4 in English or maths will be required to study this alongside their course.

You will be assessed through written assessments, multiple choice tests and a practical assignment.
Your course will take place in our dedicated electrical workshops at our Ashford Campus, offering an immersive and practical learning environment. Designed to inspire creativity and develop practical skills, each workshop features specialised tools and dedicated workspaces, giving you the opportunity to practise and refine your abilities.

Career Pathways
Upon successful achievement of this qualification, students can internally progress on the Level 3 T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction (Electrical) or an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship.
