Level 3 T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction (Electrical)

This course is perfect for students who wish to work within the Building Services Engineering Industry. The T Level contains two components, the core content and occupational specialism (in Electrotechnical Engineering). You will complete a combination of practical and theory work, developing your skills in research, problem solving, solution-development, communication and collaboration. 

You will also continue to develop your English, Maths and Digital skills. You will apply your knowledge and skills through a 45 day industry placement and gain real-world work experience to support with your next steps into employment or onto higher levels of study. 

Your study programme will consist of: 

• Your chosen technical qualification
• GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
• Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth. 
• Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

To qualify for this course, you will need a minimum of: 4 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (including English and a science or design-related subject). A minimum of grade 5 in GCSE maths is required.

• Understand the purpose of legislation and regulations in the construction industry
• Know how to complete risk assessments and explore safe systems of work
• Learn a range of formulae used in building services engineering
• Explore key principles of mechanical science,electricity, heat, light and much more
• Understand how buildings are designed, built and completed
• Understand the construction industry as a whole, including supply chains, procurement of projects and career opportunities
• Evaluate the impact of energy production and waste management in the construction industry
• Practise accurate measurements and techniques 
• Learn how to draw site plans, circuit diagrams and schedules
• Program and set up a variety of digital systems to design and model construction projects
• Develop your negotiation, communication, team work and conflict management skills when working on a building sit

Upon successful completion of this course, students can progress into employment in the BSE (Building services engineering) industry or can apply to an apprenticeship. Learners also have the opportunity to progress into higher education as this qualification is equal in size as 3 a levels and is awarded UCAS points which can be used to apply to university.
