This specialist qualification is designed to equip you with the advanced skills and technical knowledge required to break into the construction industry or accelerate your career in Site Carpentry.You will learn all the skills and underpinning knowledge required to enter the industry.

Your study programme will consist of: 

• Your chosen technical qualification
• GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
• Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth. 
• Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

To qualify for this course, you will need a minimum of: 4 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (including English and maths).

Students will learn a range of skills, such as:

• Health and safety procedures
• Team work and project management skills
• Common calculations and measures
• Learn essential first and second fix carpentry skills
• Build complex structural components 
• Understand how to operate cutting and shaping machinery
• Explore the construction industry as a whole and the opportunities available to you

Your course will be based in our carpentry and construction workshops which offer a dynamic and hands-on environment for our learners. Designed to spark creativity and build practical skills, each area is equipped with its own specialised tools and dedicated workspaces, allowing learners to experience authentic, real-world craftsmanship. Whether you’re shaping timber or assembling brick structures, our workshop spaces provide the ideal space to learn, create and grow.

You will be assessed through course assessments, end of unit tests and hands-on projects.

All students must have their own protective overalls, toe-protective footwear, a text book and basic stationery. Guidance on where to purchase these requirements will be discussed at enrolment. Students are also allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.

Upon successful completion of this course, students can pursue apprenticeship vacancies or search for relevant employment opportunities within the construction industry.
