Level 3 T Level Qualification in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufactur

Aimed at 16-18 year old school leavers, the level 3 T Level in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing aims to prepare learners for the manufacturing and engineering industry. You will complete a 45 day work placement with an employer after building your initial skill set, where you will complete an employer set project to hone your skills and further develop your knowledge of industry-standard processes, while simultaneously gaining work experience.

Your study programme will consist of: 

• Your chosen technical qualification
• GCSE English and maths if you are yet to achieve a grade 4 or above
• Personal Development sessions which focus on developing work-ready skills (such as CV writing), independent life skills (such as money management) and personal, social and professional growth. 
• Work experience or industry placement (course dependent)

To qualify for this course, you will need a minimum of: 4 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (including English and maths) or a Level 2 T Level in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in maintenance, installation and repair for engineering and manufacturing. You will:

•  Gain an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
• Develop essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing – a knowledge and understanding of mathematics including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry
• Analyse materials and their properties – understanding material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality, the condition of materials, how these are managed, and materials testing methods and techniques
• Build an awareness of basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation
• Complete a 45 day work placement where you will gain an real-world insight into the industry

You will be assessed through an employer set project, alongside practical and written exams.

In advance of the course starting students will need to purchase their personal protective equipment (PPE). This will consist of Steel or composite toe safety shoes and overalls. Guidance on this will be provided during enrolment.

You will also be expected to have your own pencil case, with the relevant equipment for this course, this includes: pens, pencils, ruler, protractor, compass, eraser, lined paper and a ring binder.

You will be allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred. You can purchase more printing credits on our online store, which can be found here.

Upon successful completion of this course, students can progress into higher education at university, or can choose to step straight into employment through entry-level roles in the manufacturing or engineering industry.
