About this course

This course is primarily about preparing you for working in the construction sector through practical application of construction skills and the methods of work. You will gain confidence in using maths and literacy along with developmental work in preparing to apply for work in this sector.  On successful completion of this you will then progress onto the L1 diploma in bricklaying or carpentry.  This course helps to introduce you to working safely and helps you gain confidence in both bricklaying and carpentry skills.  You will work to recognised industrial standards and will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career in the industry.  The college has close links to construction companies and training exercises and conditions on the course are similar to those experienced on site.
