Parents & Guardians
Following the closure of on-site learning at Brooklands College, we are continuing to deliver teaching and learning remotely to students. We have developed this page to assist parents and guardians as they support our students through these challenging times.
Assessment & Grades Update May 2020
GCSE’s & A Levels: The Government has now confirmed that GCSEs and A Levels will be awarded based on estimated grades submitted by teaching staff, which will take into account student performance and progress over the current academic year 2019/20.
Technical & Vocational Qualifications: We are awaiting confirmation of the action to be taken by Ofqual relating to the awarding of grades for all vocational and technical qualifications for the academic year 2020. There is currently an intensive consultation process taking place which will be closed on Friday 8th May 2020, until this is confirmed we cannot communicate anything further.
ESFA Communication – Fraud Alert
Surrey County Council has received the following update from the ESFA:
“We have been informed some learners and parents have received a letter from ESFA asking for personal learner bank details in relation to the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund. We never ask for personal bank account details. This is a fraudulent letter – please do not respond. Where possible, it would be helpful for institutions to share this message with parents and students through your communication channels.”

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update
Following the Government announcement on the 18th March 2020, that schools and colleges should close amid the Coronavirus outbreak, Brooklands College is closed to on-site learning for students from Friday 20th March.
We have been planning for this eventuality and can now implement our online learning strategy to ensure all students maintain their learning by remote means over the coming weeks. This will be delivered via Google Classroom with support and regular communications from teachers. Instructions here
