VIP Event launches new facilities

It was a privilege to welcome our governors, stakeholders and business partners to the launch of Brooks Restaurant and Brooks Hair & Beauty Salon recently.

The evening marked a significant milestone, both in the formal opening of our new facilities and also in celebrating our recent news that Brooklands Technical College will continue as a standalone provider. These two milestones mark our future sustainability as a leading provider in the communities that we serve.

On arrival, guests were welcomed with drinks and canapes, served by our hospitality students, and the evening continued with a viewing of ‘Vision in Flight – the evolving Brooklands Campus’ this video included time-lapse drone footage of the redevelopment so far, which was played on large screens in the new Immersive Room.

Brooks Hair & Beauty Salons were running an adult barbering course and Level 3 beauty course, showcasing students in action.

The evening ended in Brooks Restaurant where guests enjoyed a three-course meal and we were delighted that BTC alumni, Alex Payne, Chef Patron at the Sorrel Restaurant in Dorking and Harry Eagle also working at the Sorrel, supported the students in the kitchen for the evening.

Mitchell Fletcher who is now Head Chef at David Lloyd and was a student governor last academic year, was also in attendance and gave an inspiring speech about his experience at the College.

Christine Ricketts CEO and Principal, explained that the redevelopment project had only been possible through commitment, collaboration, investment, vision and dedication with our key partners and the BTC team, adding:

The restaurant and salon provide a real working training environment for our learners and I invite you to see and taste tonight the passion, skill, and dedication of our learners who have prepared and are serving this evening’s menu.”
