About this course
This is a short term course that follows the Edexcel (Pearson) GCSE Mathematics syllabus for the new 9-1 specification at Foundation level and consists of exam skills preparation for 3 exams.
This course is suitable for students who are studying for a grade 4 or 5 in GCSE Maths having achieved grade 3 (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths in a previous attempt.
This course runs twice a year, in November and February.
- The November Intensive: This is designed specifically for students who need to resit their GCSE Maths because they did not initially secure a Grade 4 or above.
- The February Intensive: This course is geared towards students who demonstrate strong potential. Entry is based on an initial assessment and their previous maths results.
Course Details
What will the course involve?
All students are required to undertake an assessment to assess their current level of numeracy. If basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) need support, a Functional Skills Maths course may be more suitable first, before progressing on to a GCSE Mathematics course.
Entry Requirements
What qualifications will I need?
Before enrolling, students are required to attend an interview to ensure they fulfil the suitability requirements which is normally a grade 3 (or legacy D grade) in GCSE Maths and Students with lower than grade 3 should study and successfully complete Functional Skills Maths up to Level 1 before progressing on this course.
The results achieved in the screening test will help to decide the most suitable point of entry for achieving your goal in mathematics.

Additional Costs
Fees for GCSE Maths and GCSE English only apply to adults who do not qualify for government funding.
If you have achieved a grade 4 or below, your course will be fully funded.
