About this course
The Level 2 Certificate in Hair and Beauty Services is designed for individuals looking to build foundational skills in the hairdressing or beauty industry. This qualification covers key techniques such as basic cutting, styling and colouring along with many other beauty treatments. It also includes essential knowledge of health and safety, client consultation and professional salon practices.

Where will I be studying?
Brooklands Technical College has specialist facilities for hair and beauty courses in our professional training salons.
Brooks Hair & Beauty Salons are located in Weybridge and Ashford. In Weybridge the salon is an integral part of the college and in Ashford the salon has a prime, High Street location, both are open to the public and offer a professional training environment for students to develop the skills needed for the industry.
There will be a work based element which will prepare you for employment in the industry. You will also have the opportunity to take part in competitions and all students are expected to wear uniforms and present themselves in a professional manner.
Course Details
What modules are covered?
To achieve the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Hair Services (3002-23), learners must
achieve: A minimum of 28 credits is required to achieve this level 2 Certificate in Hair
Services.

- Create an Image Based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
- Salon Reception Duties
Who is the course suitable for?
The course is for 16-19 year olds who wish to enter the professional world of the hairdressing industry and train to be a Junior Stylist.
How is the course assessed?
Continuous assessment via practical assessments and online exams
Are there any extra costs?
It is advised that a kit and uniform is purchased from our recommended supplier. Visits may include: professional exhibitions, an international visit and a chance to take part in competitions and Goldwell colouring, perming and product courses. Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
Entry Requirements
What qualifications will I need?
The minimum entry requirements for this course includes GCSE English or maths (grade 0-3), or a Level 1 Functional Skills. Those who do not achieve a grade 4 in English or maths will be required to study this alongside their course.
