About this course
This is a one year course that will include both practical and theory work.
The course includes all aspects of beauty therapy including facials, manicure, pedicure, waxing, lash and brow treatments, make-up and related anatomy and physiology will be studied.
Your study programme will include developing study skills, personal development and GCSE English and Maths (if not already achieved at grade 4 or above).
You will be required to purchase kit, wear a uniform for your classes and present yourself in a professional manner.

If you enjoy making people look and feel good then this is the career for you. Beauty therapists start their career working in a beauty salon or spa. They can also go on to specialise in a specific area such as massage, skin care or make-up for TV and film.
You will have wonderful work experience opportunities to prepare you for the world of work, and will learn in our fully-operational Brooks Salon.

Who is the course suitable for?
The course is for 16-19 year olds who wish to enter the professional world of the beauty industry.
How is the course assessed?
Practical assessment, coursework and online exams.
Are there any extra costs?
A uniform and beauty kit will need to be purchased (information will be given to you at interview). Visits may include: professional exhibitions and a chance to take part in competitions and suppliers product courses. Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
Entry Requirements
What qualifications will I need?
The minimum entry requirements for this course includes GCSE English and maths (grade 3-4) or Level 2 Functional Skills. Those who do not achieve a grade 4 in English or maths will be required to study this alongside their course.
Progression
Further studies in Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Complementary Therapies such as ITEC Level 3 Massage. Alternatively, you can gain employment working in a beauty salon at Level 2, this may include hotels and gyms, or you may also work as a make-up counter assistant.
