This course will give you an excellent grounding in the vocational skills and knowledge required for all types of work in the business environment. This varied work-related course is taught by experienced and enthusiastic lecturers in conjunction with external speakers. All of the units will have a real life business focus. You will also have the opportunity to represent the college by participating in business events, competitions and trips. Progression onto the Extended Diploma (year 2) is subject to successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma (part 1) plus 3 additional units.

Part 1: Level 3 Subsidiary diploma in Business (equivalent to 1 A level)
Part 2: BTEC 90 (Leading towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma)
If you want both an academic and practical base for an exciting career in Business then this is the course for you.
Each unit is assessed by coursework.
Students will need a good quality memory stick to store their work for the year. During the year there will be the opportunity to attend some trips and events which will incur costs for travel or admission. Costs will be advised by your tutor. Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths and ideally 1 GCSE at grade 5, or for progressing students successful achievement of a Merit grade for a level 2 vocational qualification.
A career in business or finance, or if you decide to go to University or college you could take a degree or HND in subjects such as Business, Marketing or Economics. It could also take you to the next qualification a BTEC Extended Diploma in Business.
Examples and approximate starting salaries of job roles that students on this course may go into include: Account Clerk £12,000 - £16,000, Administrator £12,000 - £16,000, Marketing Assistant £15,000.
