Where will I be studying?

As digital communication increases and impacts on every aspect of our life, the career opportunities in media are varied and interesting. 

As a media student you will gain practical experience in our impressive modern facilities including: professionally equipped TV studios, video/editing and Apple Mac suites.

Our highly experienced staff will support, guide and prepare you for a wide range of employment and further education opportunities within the media and related industries.

Facilities include digital TV and radio studios with digital recording equipment, HD video cameras, Apple Mac editing suites and DTP including media industry standard software, including InDesign, Final Cut Pro, Adobe CS6

Course Details

What modules are covered?

Explore and apply a range of creative production and communication techniques to develop and deliver a media project.

By the end of this award, you will be able to:

  • Experiment with and evaluate different production processes to support a creative media project.
  • Apply a variety of practical skills to influence the outcome of a media production.
  • Use diverse methods to communicate ideas effectively, helping shape and guide the creative process.
  • Critically assess the effectiveness of both production and communication strategies in developing and delivering a media activity.

This course is suitable for those with an interest in following a career in Media sectors such as Publishing, TV, Film, Radio or Music Industries.

How is the course assessed?

You will be continuously assessed throughout the course on practical assignments.  

Are there any extra costs?

Students buy their own materials such as USB memory sticks and blank DVDs.  The student pays for educational visits to London, TV studios etc.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Entry Requirements

What qualifications will I need?

The minimum entry requirements for this course includes GCSE English or maths (grade 0-3), or a Level 1 Functional Skills. Those who do not achieve a grade 4 in English or maths will be required to study this alongside their course.
