Historic Makeup & Masks

Monday, 22nd February 2021

This term students have been studying Fashion and Photographic Hair & Makeup. This has included researching the history of makeup and how to create historically accurate pieces.

Prior to lockdown students had been learning to create period hair styles from finger waves of the 1920’s, Victory rolls of the 1940’s to Beehives of the 1960’s. We then took these lessons remotely and students have worked hard to research and learn all that they can about the different makeup styles of each era.

A couple of weeks ago students were set the task of choosing an era they particularly liked, researching this era and creating a historically accurate makeup and hair look based on this. To keep it fun and in-keeping with the current climate students were also tasked with designing and creating a face mask to go with their pieces.

As you can see from the pictures students came up with some great looks and put a lot of effort in to their research!

Why don’t you try out one of these looks at home or research and create your own unique look? Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram! @bcinspireacademy
