This course provides an ideal first qualification for those who are working or want to work as a teaching assistant in a school.
This course provides an ideal first qualification for those who are working or want to work as a teaching assistant in a school. You will attend college for one morning each week for a taught session led by one of the tutor team, as well as gaining practical, work-based experience.
There are no examinations. Instead you will gradually develop a portfolio of different types of evidence of your knowledge and skills, including short written tasks, observations in the school and professional discussions.

You should be working or volunteering in a school for a minimum of 6 hours per week while you are on the course. It is also important that the school is supportive of your studies and if possible you should have a mentor in your workplace.
