You will have the opportunity to undertake a carousel of activities in art, design and media at the beginning of the course before deciding on your preferred specialist pathway, either Art & Design or Media.
This is a practical course that enables you to build and develop a range of art and design skills including drawing , painting, textiles, mixed media and animation.
It provides a foundation to move onto the next level qualification or employment. You will also continue to strengthen your Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.
Careers relating to Design are really popular as it impacts on everything we see around us from adverts to shop window displays to websites. Our courses will help you find where your art and design skills lie and you will study in our attractive purpose built studios.
Facilities include specialist studios and workshops in Textiles, Graphic Design, 3D/Sculpture, Fine Art, Printmaking, Photography and an Apple Mac suite.
The annual end of year exhibition is an opportunity for students to showcase their designs. Our art and design courses have an excellent reputation and many of our students go on to gain places at the top universities or secure careers in the industry.

The UAL Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design and Media are designed to provide students who are intrigued and motivated by art and design with opportunities to explore, develop and test their creativity.
This course would suit those with an interest in following a career in the Art and Media sectors.
There will be internally assessed practical assignments throughout the course.
Students will also need a USB memory stick, and art supplies. There are several visits to London galleries and local workshops made throughout the course to support the vocational context of the qualification. Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
Some evidence of studying at GCSE grade grade 4 or working at Entry Level 3 literacy and numeracy.
Pre 16s - No requirements, it is essential that applicants have a keen interest in the industry and willingness to learn, with evidence of creative drawing, design or portfolio of work.
This qualification could enable you to apply for a place on the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design or OCR Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media.
Job roles in this sector could include: Graphic Design Assistant, Artist, Textile Design or Photographer, Advertising Executive to name a few.
