If you dream of working in an exciting and challenging role at the Airport then this course is just the ticket. You will have the chance to learn, develop and practise the skills required for roles such as Customer Service Agent, Aircraft Dispatcher, Check In Agent, Baggage Handling and Aircraft Marshalling.

Where will I be studying?

At Brooklands College we have a team of dedicated, experienced staff with vast travel industry experience. Our students enjoy classes in our dedicated tourism and cabin crew/aviation rooms. Over the duration of your course you will learn everything you need to know to have a successful start in industry. You also have the opportunity to experience the industry first hand, putting into practice what you have learned in the classroom during assessments on our fantastic day trips and residential visits.

Aviation security

Health and safety within aviation

Airport check in services

Aviation communications

Aircraft boarding and arrival services

Airport baggage processing

Loading and unloading of aircraft

Airport baggage facilities

Aircraft Load Instruction Reports

Aviation passengers with special requirements

Support Flight Operations

Aircraft marshalling

Aircraft dispatch process

 

Additional qualification for the Level 2 Diploma

You will also participate in GCSE re-sit or Functional Skills for English and Maths if you achieved lower than a 4 in your GCSE exams.

1 week of work experience, day trips to Travel and Tourism establishments and an optional residential visit.

 

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is designed for those who have a keen interest in working in the Airport.

How is the course assessed?

This qualification is achieved through a combination of course work, in class tests, role plays, presentations, work experience and airport visits.

Are there any extra costs?

You will need to pay approximately £100 for day trips for the year and there will be an optional residential trip, which will cost approximately £300. Your tutor will provide details of these at the start of the course.  

Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

What qualifications will I need?

5 GCSE passes including 2 GCSE passes at Grade 4 and above

Next Steps

On completion of this course you can progress to Level 3 Travel & Tourism to further develop your knowledge and skills or perhaps apply for a role at Heathrow or Gatwick Airport.
