The travel and tourism industry is a challenging and dynamic place to work, offering a variety of employment opportunities in sales, customer service, marketing and events. You could even decide to work overseas as a Holiday Rep, onboard a cruise ship or for your favourite airline as Cabin Crew.
During your first year at Brooklands as well as studying units such as Worldwide Destinations to develop your knowledge of travel and tourism you will gain hands-on experience hosting a travel exhibition, working as a Holiday Park Host during a residential trip and completing work experience with an employer of your choice.
The second year will further develop your knowledge by studying a wide range of units such as Specialist Tourism. You will also develop your interpersonal skills through mentoring others, running team building events, managing a travel exhibition, conducting guided tours and organising a charity event.
At Brooklands College we have a team of dedicated, experienced staff with vast travel industry experience. Our students enjoy classes in our dedicated tourism and cabin crew rooms. Over the duration of your course you will learn everything you need to know to have a successful start in industry. You also have the opportunity to experience the industry first hand, putting into practice what you have learned in the classroom during assessments on our fantastic day trips and overseas visits

You will also participate in GCSE re-sit or Functional Skills for English and Maths if you achieved lower than a 4 in your GCSE exams.
1 week of work experience, residential visit, day trips to Travel and Tourism establishments and the chance to gain industry qualifications.
These courses are designed for those who have a keen interest in the Travel and Tourism Sector
This qualification is achieved through a combination of course work, in class tests, role plays, presentations and work experience.
You will need to pay approximately £100 for day trips for the year and there will be an optional residential trip, which will cost approximately £300. Your tutor will provide details of these at the start of the course.
Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
5 GCSE passes at grade C/grade 4 or above, ideally including English and Maths (some subject areas may require higher grades than grade C/4 in a specific subject), or for progressing students successful achievement of a level 2 vocational qualification.
Successful completion of this course can lead to a full time University course, or to employment within the Travel and Tourism Industry.
Examples and approximate starting salaries of job roles that students on this course may go into include: Product Executive £18,000, Events Planner £20,000, Cruise Call Centre £18,000.
