Digital Support Services


LEVEL 2: T LEVEL FOUNDATION YEAR

The T Level foundation year in Digital course is designed for those that are looking to progress on to a T Level programme but do not yet meet the entry requirements.

Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (including English Language and Maths). If you don’t have a grade 4 in English and Maths you will be required to study for this alongside your course.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN ON THIS COURSE

CORE CONTENT

  • Develop Industry-relevant English, Maths and Digital Skills
  • Develop Employability Skills, Attitudes, Confidence and Behaviours

LEVEL 3: T LEVEL

This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in digital infrastructure and support. Career options might include becoming an infrastructure technician or a role in IT support. 

Entry Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4, including both English and Maths, and ideally grade 9-4 in GCSE Computer Science.

Based at our Weybridge Campus, you will have access to the latest technology equipment and classrooms and will be taught by our industry qualified and experienced teaching team.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN ON THIS COURSE

CORE CONTENT

All students will develop a general understanding of digital:

  • how digital technologies impact business and market environment
  • the ethical and moral implications of digital technology
  • using data in software design
  • using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
  • digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
  • legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
  • the privacy and confidentiality of personal data
  • the technical, physical and human aspects of internet security
  • planning digital projects
  • testing software, hardware and data
  • digital tools for project management and collaboration

They will also learn about topics specific to digital support services, including:

  • roles within the digital support services sector
  • communication in digital support services
  • fault analysis and problem resolution

OPTIONS TO SPECIALISE

In addition to the core content, each student must choose one of the following specialisms:

  • digital infrastructure
  • network cabling
  • digital support
  • cyber security

Students are required to take part in a substantial industry placement that runs for a minimum of 315 hours (45 days) overall and will therefore give students practical insights into their sector and an opportunity to embed the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.

Progression

This technical qualification will support students onto a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships.
