Biomedical Science is a branch of Applied Science, which involves study of the human body system with respect to health and diseases. It mainly involves diagnosis and understanding of diseases states and the mechanisms involved. This course will help you develop an understanding of the fundamentals of biochemistry, human anatomy, physiology, medical genetics, microbiology and bioanalytical techniques. With biomedical scientist handling an estimated 150 million samples in the UK, every person at some point in their lives will have benefitted from their services. The career choices available for students doing a biomedical science subject are vast. Some of which include, working for the NHS or private sector laboratories, Health Protection Agency (HPA), National Blood Authority, Medical research Council, Veterinary Services, University laboratories, Pharmaceutical and Product manufacturers and various other governmental organisations.
